Birmingham is C’s hometown, so each year at Christmas time we take a trip to the Frankfurt Christmas market in Birmingham City centre. I’m a big fan of Christmas markets (Lincoln Christmas market being another favourite) but this one is particularly special, it’s the largest outdoor Christmas market in the UK and the largest German market outside of Germany, so I hear. There is a fine selection of german ham, Bratwurst sausages, homemade gifts and my personal favourite,  garlic mushrooms washed down with a mug of Gluhwein

The market runs until 22nd December, highly recommended for raising festive cheer

Are you feeling festive yet?

  1. sounds and looks scrumptious!

  2. Great pics! Walking through here while working in Brum last year certainly made me feel festive. It was hard to resist a Bratwurst every time. Things are pretty different this year:

Thank you, yes I don’t think I could resist Bratwurst if I passed it on a daily basis! Definitely going to be a different Christmas experience for you guys this year :-)

Gorgeous photos! I love Christmas markets but I can’t stand crowds, and particularly find very busy places difficult when it’s dark, so I tend to steer clear.

Thank you! Yes, it was extremely busy and the crowds did put a downer on things, we had to re-locate at one point for fear of getting crushed! Eventually though we did find a quiet-ish spot, going with a team of Brummies armed with local knowledge certainly helped!

Ooh you can’t beat a nutella crepe! So long as they’re not stingy with the nutella that is… it needs to postively BULGE out

Beautiful photos! I had a quick wander through when I was in Birmingham for work a few weeks back, it’s a lovely market, so much to see (and eat!) x
